Valley VOTE, the remaining organization from the unsuccessful secession effort, has continued to be involved in local affairs, meeting regularly in a conference room supplied by Bert Boeckmann at Galpin Ford.
Boeckmann, for years known as Mr. Republican of Los Angeles County, has served on the Police Commission under three mayors (Tom Bradley, Richard Riordan and James Hahn). He will be shown some gratitude in a Dec. 7 event saluting him at the Skirball Cultural Center.
"We wanted to say, 'Thank you Bert' for his continuing support of Valley VOTE ," Joe Vitti of Valley VOTE said.
Valley VOTE has continued to press for the Valley getting its fair share of city services and has become somewhat of a sounding board for all local politicians seeking an inroad to Valley organizations and leaders.
Hahn and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appeared before the group several times to press their agenda and all of the mayoral candidates since 2001 have appeared before them. Several of those testing the waters for 2013 already have reached out to the organization.
