Ron Kaye
is the former editor of the Los Angeles Daily News where he spent 23 years helping to make the newspaper the voice of the San Fernando Valley and fighting for a city government that serves the people and not special interests. Twice in recent years, Los Angeles Magazine listed Kaye among the city’s most influential people, specifically in the area of politics. He is now committed to carrying on his crusade for a greater Los Angeles as an ordinary citizen. Previously, Ron also worked at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, the Associated Press, and numerous other papers throughout his distinguished journalistic career. You can now find him at community events, on radio and TV or at meetings with other activists who are working hard for a greater Los Angeles. He firmly believes that Informed, involved and organized, the people can change L.A. Ron helped defeat Measure B last year that saved the ratepayers of Los Angeles an estimated 2 Billion dollars. Ron has also launched OurLA.org -- a community-based online newspaper for the 21st century. Our LA is a nonprofit that belongs to the community and depends on their efforts as citizen journalists and concerned citizens. It brings together the content of local websites and bloggers, professional journalists and experts into a single comprehensive LA news site. 
We are pleased to have Ron take time out of his busy schedule to visit Valley VOTE and bring us up to date on what's happening at City Hall.

Alex Rubalcava
Alex Rubalcava is President and Founder of Rubalcava Capital Management, an investment advisory firm located in West Los Angeles that manages investment portfolios for clients seeking long term growth of capital. Mr. Rubalcava is an LA County pension expert who has spent years analyzing the funding mechanisms, administration and actuarial assumptions of the public pension system - and five years ago publicly forecast the current pension crisis. Mr. Rubalcava has advised LA City and County officials, state lawmakers, the LA Area Chamber, BizFed, the media, community groups and others on the issues.
Alex will discuss the impact public pensions are having on current and future city, county, and state budgets.


Questions from the audience, as time permits, will follow each speakers remarks.
