Elected in 2006, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth represents the 38th Assembly District, which includes communities within the cities of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Simi Valley and Glendale.Prior to being elected to the state legislature, Assemblyman Smyth served on the Santa Clarita City Council, where he was first elected in 2000 and subsequently re-elected in 2004. During his time on the City Council, Assemblyman Smyth twice served as Mayor, first in 2003 and again in 2005.
Assemblyman Smyth was appointed the Vice Chair of the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee.  The committee is charged with oversight of issues pertaining to public health and the environment.  As Vice Chair, Assemblyman Smyth seeks to direct the committee towards scientifically sound policies that promote a healthy environment and a strong economy and oppose those that needlessly burden the business community and drive our workforce to other states.

Assemblyman Smyth attended local public schools and received his Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of California, Davis.
He will discuss legislative matters of importance to the citizens of Los Angeles.

      Denny Schneider

Denny, an Executive Board Member of Valley VOTE, is our expert on matters related to the Los Angeles World Airports.(LAWA)  His current positions include:  President, Alliance for a Regional Solution to Airport Congestion (ARSAC); Principal, LAX Specific Plan Amendment and LAX North Side Safety Committees (2005 LAX legal challenge settlement calls for working with LAWA to update Master Plan.); Past President, Board member and Airport Affairs Chair, Westchester Neighbors Association; Vice Chairman, LAX-Community Noise Roundtable.
Denny will present an up to date report on LAX regarding expansion and present recommendations. In addition he will discuss the importance of increasing the use of the Ontario and Palmdale airports.

Questions from the audience will follow each speaker's remarks. The public and press are invited to the meeting.
