In the June 4 primary election to replace District 12 City Council member Mitch Englander, John Lee and Loraine Lundquist received the most votes. They will meet again in a special August 13 election to determine who will represent the communities of Chatsworth, Grenada Hills, Northridge, Porter Ranch, West Hills, Sherwood Forest and parts of North Hills and Reseda.

ValleyVOTE takes pleasure in hosting a Monday July 15 community forum in which both Lee and Lundquist will present their vision for the northwest valley and take questions from ValleyVOTE members. John Lee, 49, is a Porter Ranch resident who served as Mitch Englander’s chief of staff after working in various capacities for Greig Smith and Joel Wachs. He wants to make LA more efficient by reducing bureaucratic delays, the cost of doing business and impediments to building more housing. Loraine Lundquist, 41, is an astrophysicist who teaches physics, sustainability and mathematics at Cal State Northridge. She is active in environmental causes and believes LA should promote a zero-carbon power grid, zero-emission vehicles and zero-net energy buildings.

Please arrive early for this special Town Hall meeting, which will begin promptly at 7 pm. after thirty minutes of snacks and networking.
